More than a competition, the Olimpiada Digital has become one of the largest educational innovation movements in Brazil. In just three editions, it has engaged tens of thousands of public school students, democratizing access to debates that are usually restricted to major international technology and innovation events. In 2024 alone, more than 20,000 young people took part in the journeys, a 600% increase compared to the previous year.
The initiative is supported by the State and Municipal Departments of Education of Rio de Janeiro, along with a network of major institutional and cultural partners. Nationally recognized brands are also involved, offering prizes such as a gaming laptop, professional courses, English courses, Rock in Rio tickets, speakers, experiences at Globo Studios, and even a guitar signed by Marisa Monte.
But the true impact goes beyond awards. By exploring themes such as fake news in the age of artificial intelligence, cyberbullying, emotional intelligence, combating racism, circular economy, and mental health, the Olimpiada places young people at the center of reflections on present and future challenges, developing critical thinking, creativity, and socio-emotional skills.
Youth Voices at the Center
In 2025, the Olimpiada became even stronger with the arrival of the Young Reporter Award, an initiative of Seeduc-RJ that brings together students from intercultural and language-focused state schools to experience communication as a practice of citizenship.
They act as reporters, videomakers, and photographers, covering the main events of the Olimpiada and amplifying the voices of their generation. This experience has already transformed trajectories: in 2024, young reporters covered the G20 in Rio de Janeiro, interviewed global authorities, and became news themselves on outlets such as GloboNews and RJTV. Many have gone on to universities and chosen careers linked to communication. Now, in addition to covering major events such as BRICS and the Rio Book Fair, they will take part in unique formative experiences, including mentorship with journalist Carol Barcellos and a hands-on immersion at the newsroom of O Globo.
The Future of Education Is Collaborative
This is where Teach the Future Brazil comes in. As a partner of the Olimpiada and the Young Reporter Award, the movement strengthens its mission of shaping a new generation literate in futures—young people who not only consume information but also learn to question, interpret, and design scenarios.
In practice, this partnership demonstrates what we believe globally: education should not only teach about the past but prepare young people to imagine and act upon the future.
Inspiring Desirable Futures
Through journeys that address themes ranging from combating racism to emotional intelligence at work, from the ethical use of AI to circular economy, the Olimpiada Digital 2025 and the Young Reporter Award show that young people are not merely receivers of knowledge—they are producers of meaning, narratives, and futures.
For Teach the Future Brazil, celebrating this partnership is to reaffirm our mission: to empower young people, educators, and organizations to shape the future with awareness, creativity, and responsibility.
The Olimpiada Digital 2025 journeys run until October 15. Everyone can play and get inspired at olimpiadadigital.com.br.
