About World Futures Day

Celebrated every 1st of March, World Futures Day (WFD) is an annual 24-hour conversation around the world started in 2014, sponsored by The Millennium Project, in collaboration with leading international organizations including the Association of Professional Futurists, Humanity+, Lifeboat Foundation, World Academy of Art and Science, and the World Futures Studies Federation (WFSF). Conversations worldwide take place during this day where professional futurists discuss the future.  In parallel Teach the Future hosts World Futures Day - Young Voices (WFD-YV) bringing together intergenerational voices from around the world. WFD-YV is committed to ensuring youth perspectives are central to this global dialogue.

About World Futures Day - Young Voices
Started in 2021, Teach the Future organizes the World Futures Day - Young Voices edition. Young people, educators and futurists co-lead a session at every hour having conversations about our collective futures. By spotlighting youth, we provide young people with a platform to share their ideas about the future with the world. The event goes live at 5:00pm in New Zealand and will continue hour by hour around the planet, concluding at 5:00pm in Hawaii.

In a rapidly evolving world it is essential to learn how to deal with uncertain and ever-changing futures. Let’s prepare our next generations with these skills in the classroom!

Our aspiration is that every student is prepared to navigate an uncertain world and has the agency to imagine and create their preferred future.

Our mission is to teach futures-thinking skills to students and educators around the world and to inspire them to influence their futures.
