Teach the Future congratulates inspiring Young Voices Leader Tia Aftab on her acceptance to the University of California, Berkeley! We are thrilled to see Tia begin this exciting new chapter.
Born and raised in Pakistan, Tia has already made remarkable impact empowering girls and advancing youth foresight. The 2022 Teach the Future Young Voices Award recipient founded "This Is Us" to execute girls' leadership programs and reclaim public space through inspirational runs.
Tia actively engages in systems mapping research on urban development with a gender lens. She presented her work internationally from Pakistan to Portugal. We were proud to host Tia's insights on various panels advancing youth foresight.
Tia's work has been tireless, from executing major programs in Pakistan to speaking globally, including recent events with the Association of Professional Futurists and upcoming speaking engagement she will also be virtually joining the World Futures Studies Federation (WFSF) for their XXV World Conference 50th Anniversary in Paris, France from October 25-27, 2023
We are confident Berkeley will nurture Tia's passions from social justice to sustainability. She will undoubtedly continue uplifting voices and driving change. We cannot wait to see Tia shape our shared future as her education and leadership grow.
Tia's journey demonstrates how students can lead impactful futures work. Her empathy and compassion motivate impact with youth at the forefront. Stories like Tia's and the Young Voices Network are example that inspires all of us at Teach the Future.
Congratulations Tia! We are so excited for you and know this is only the beginning of your journey to create positive change in the world.
