The U.S. is launching a Hub!

Updated: Mar 4

I had the pleasure of running into Peter Bishop last Summer during the Association for Professional Futurists 20th Anniversary. I innocently asked a question to Peter about why the U.S. doesn't have a formal hub. As a full-time foresight practitioner and rocket scientist, and a mom of 2 children under the age of 4, I was shocked when I found out there wasn't a concerted effort to scale futures literacy in America. Pockets of excellence exist of course, but nothing to the degree or scale that is needed to truly transform how we prepare the future for well...the future! Why aren't we equipping our society with better capacities to manage uncertainty and to trailblaze the futures they want?! Honestly, I can't think of anything more important at this time.

Kara Cunzeman, Jamaal Thomas, Randi Millard and Laura Tesoro are leading Teach the Future's US Hub

So while like many, I have far too much on my plate that seems to be getting fuller and fuller as the days go on, I seriously asked myself if there's more that I could be doing to change things here in the U.S. The answer of course was a resounding yes (!), so here we are. I am pleased to announce that I along with amazing leaders, Jamaal Thomas, Laura Tesoro, and Randi Millard will be representing the U.S. Hub at Teach the Future.

The Hub will initially be focused on 5 working groups: Cross Collaborative Initiatives, K-12 Education, Technical, University, and Professional Education, Media and Social Outreach, and Government Advocacy and Fundraising. Our goal is to reach 1 million lives within our first year.

We are so looking forward to advancing this initiative in the U.S. and to working with our incredible international partners at Teach the Future who have wonderful lessons to share with us as we begin our journey.
