NGFP Young Voices Awards MENA Region Special Recognition 2025

The Next Generation Foresight Practitioner - Young Voices (NGFP-YV) Awards aims to showcase the voices of our youth 12-17 years of age. For the 2025 NGFP -YV Awards, in partnership with the Dubai Future Foundation we’re especially excited to launch a dedicated MENA region category spotlighting emerging youth visionaries from across the Middle East and North Africa.

New to this year the MENA Region Young Voices Winners demonstrate strong representation from the United Arab Emirates, with all participants based in the UAE. The applicants range in age from 13 to 17 years old, with the youngest winners being remarkable 13-year-olds working on innovative sustainability and health projects. The region showcases 19 young innovators across 10 distinct projects.

Project Themes & Innovation Areas

The MENA winners feature both individual and team projects addressing critical global challenges through technological innovation and community engagement. All projects demonstrate strong alignment with multiple SDGs, with notable focus on:

  • SDG 3 (Good Health) - 4 projects

  • SDG 4 (Quality Education) - 3 projects

  • SDG 7 (Clean Energy) - 4 projects

  • SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption) - 7 projects

  • SDG 13 (Climate Action) - 2 projects

Key Innovation Themes:

Futures Literacy & Education: Projects like Vrishank's Futures Club and Beyond Tomorrow podcast bring foresight thinking to young people, while AdaptEd uses AI to personalize learning based on individual cognitive styles and preferences.

Energy Innovation from Waste: Youth are pioneering sustainable energy solutions—HAWAA converts urban heat into electricity using thermophotovoltaic technology, while Food2Power transforms food waste into clean energy through biodigestion, and Double A Batteries creates low-cost hydropower from scrap materials.

Health & Nutrition Technology: Initiatives address critical gaps through innovation—NutriPrint tackles protein deficiency with 3D-printed, plant-based nutrition blocks, while MindUrMind destigmatizes mental health through peer-led campaigns, workshops, and app-based support tools.

Technology Ethics & Justice: Projects like Falcon Justice Lab empower youth with legal literacy around rights and responsibilities, while AI Unmasked raises awareness about AI ethics, privacy concerns, and algorithmic bias, particularly around health data protection.

Circular Economy Solutions: Teams demonstrate creative approaches to sustainability—converting thermal waste to power, transforming agricultural and food waste into resources, and building accessible renewable energy systems from recycled materials.

The MENA winners collectively represent a generation of young innovators combining technological sophistication with deep community awareness, creating solutions that are both cutting edge and contextually grounded in real world needs.
