The Future of the American Dream

How does change affect our culture's most deeply held beliefs? In this unit, students examine the story of the American Dream, how it might be changing, and what it might look like in 2035. Aligned with Common Core reading and writing standards and culminating in an essay that argues which future American Dream seems most likely given the evidence, this unit offers students the opportunity to reflect on American values, view cultural narratives from multiple perspectives, and grapple with multiple possible futures of the country.
